Author Background

   Isaac Asimov was born on January 20 in the year 1920, in Petrovichi in the then Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic. His parents were Judah and Anna Rachel Berman Asimov. He and his family emigrated to America in 1923, when Asimov was only three years of age. Asimov was ethnically a Russian Jew, but neither he nor his family practiced any beliefs. He was a Professor of Biochemistry at Boston University, and the Vice President of Mensa. Asimov is the author of several books that are nonfiction, and wrote many highly regarded essays. One of his papers that is regarded more in jest is a paper he wrote on an element he completely fabricated, and he also made up the scholarly journals that he cited to support his argument. Isaac Asimov published a great number of books, short stories, and other works in science fiction. When he died in 1992, he died a monument to the genre of science fiction.
